How many times a day are the hands of a clock straight? The hands of a clock point in opposite directions i.e in the same straight line ,11 times in every 12 hrs. In a day that's 24hrs(12 hrs each). 11+11=22 times.

  2. I got with 24 times!

    1:38am, 2:44am, 3:48am, 4:55am, 5:58am, 6:00am, 7:05am, 8:10am, 9:17am, 10:22am, 11:27am, and 12:33pm approximately.

12times in half a day (AM); and in the same way, 12times in remaining half a day (PM). Total is 12+12=24 times where the hands are in a straight line in opposite direction.

  3. 22 times...
The reason why it's NOT 24 times is because for every time the hands point at different directions (say 12:33), when they go on to the next hour (60mins), it will become 1:33, in which the hands won't be directly opposite. But they become so at 1:38.
They appear at opposite sides, approximately every 65-67mins.

Thereby, this reduces the occurrences in a 24-hour clock.

This, 22 times in 24 hours.

  4. The hands of an analog clock point in opposite directions (in the same straight line)11times every 12 hours. For instance, between 11 and 1,they coincide only once at 12 o'clock). The hands overlap about every 65 minutes, not every 60 minutes. Thus, the minute hand and the hour hand point in the opposite directions (in the same straight line) 22 times in a day!

  5. The hand clock/watch point in opposite directions in the same straight line 11 times in every 12 hours because between 5 & 7 they point in opposite directions at 6 o'clock only. so in a day the hands point in opposite directions 22 times
