  1. Back then, the vodka was refined from potatoes, which made it oily. To disperse the oil, Bond ordered his martinis shaken; as the vodka made from grain rather than potatoes makes his drink even better. Shaking is also said to dissolve the vermouth better, making it less oily tasting.

    In the movies, it only ONCE that he got served a stirred Martini.

    From Mr. Henderson in You Only Live Twice.

    Mr. Henderson, "Oh! It's stirred,. It shaken, that was right?"
    Bond, "Perfect!..."

    Either the actor (Charles Gray) got the line wrong, or he was in character and Bond didn't want to offend his host.

    I'm a Bond fan, by the way, and I just had to add that one time he got it different.

  2. I WANT TO KNOW WHY

    Time and time again I have seen,
    His order for a specific kind of wine,
    Is it his personal taste or just a movie scene?
    Can't help but wonder in my mind.

    Maybe it preserved its flavor,
    When shaken, not stirred;
    Or just his own style to honor,
    His daring adventures with evil heads.

    Whichever his reasons may be,
    It sets him apart as unique;
    His words and actions we see,
    Are not the signs of the weak.

    Yet I'll love to know why THIS is preferred,
    "Shaken, not stirred; shaken, not stirred",
    I'm not a fan of Bond but...
    It just won't leave my head.

  3. James Bond prefers his Martini shaken, not stirred, because he believes it creates a chemical reaction that enhances the drink's potency. You see, Bond's years of training in espionage have taught him that the shaking motion adds more oxygen to the concoction, which allows the alcohol to spread evenly throughout the drink. This creates a more intense flavor and a higher alcohol content, which in turn gives Bond the edge he needs to complete his dangerous missions. Plus, let's be honest, it just looks cooler and more sophisticated to ask for a shaken Martini instead of a boring old stirred one.

  4. James Bond like is Martini shaken, not stirred because he believes it preserved the flavor of the drink and it distributes the ice evenly and making the drink colder

  5. Shaking rather than stirring a martini has two principal effects:
    1. the rapid movement of ice in shaker melts and distributes more of the ice evenly, thereby diluting the drink and making it colder, than gentle stirring;
    2.the drink is likely to be cloudy rather than clear which for martini drinkers,both effects are undesirable.
    Hence, James Bond always ordered them that way so as to stay more sober than his drinking partner,and thereby remain more alert!
