John wants to enter into a private club but the entry requires a password he doesn’t know. So, he waits nearby and listens to the all conversations happening around him.
As a club member comes to the door, the security officer says, “Twelve”. She replies, “Six” and gets in.
Another member comes to the door. The security officer says, “Six” and the man replies, “Three” and gets in.
John thinks that he understands the pattern and walks up to the door. The security officer says, “Ten” and Matt replies, “Five” but the security guard doesn’t let him in.
What’s the password?
John thinks the password is half of whatever number the security officer gives.

So the password is three.
The password appears to be the number of letters in the word the security officer says. When the security officer says "Twelve," the member replies "Six" because there are six letters in the word "Twelve." When the security officer says "Six," the member replies "Three" because there are three letters in the word "Six."
ReplyDeleteSo, when the security officer says "Ten," the correct reply should be "Three" since there are three letters in the word "Ten." John's reply of "Five" does not fit the pattern.

ReplyDeleteThe password is the number of letters for each word pronounced by the security officer. Since He said "Ten", the password is THREE because that represents the number of letters in "Ten".
