A man came to the police and said that he got robbed. A police officer asked him to describe exactly what happened. The man explained, “I was on my way to the bank and I had N1,000,000 in my briefcase. Suddenly, a man wearing black clothes, a mask and gloves attacked me, grabbed the briefcase and ran away.” The police officer noticed a fresh cut on the man’s face and asked if it was a result of the attack. The man answered, “Yes, the attacker was wearing a silver ring on his left hand.” The police officer immediately knew that the man was lying.
How did the police officer know the man wasn’t telling the truth?
The “victim” said that the attacker was wearing black gloves, therefore he wouldn’t have known if he had a ring.

ReplyDeleteThe victim's statement made the police know that he was telling lies, he said the attacker was wearing a glove so how come did the victim see a ring on a hand that's in a glove
ReplyDeleteThe police officer knew the man was lying because the man's account of the event conflicted with itself. The man mentioned that the attacker was wearing gloves, which would have made it impossible for the attacker's ring to have caused the cut on the man's face. This inconsistency led the police officer to suspect that the man was not telling the truth about the robbery.
